A Place for Everyone
What We Believe:
Janesville should be a place where people of all ages and income levels can afford to live. Right now, outdated zoning laws and unnecessary regulations make it harder to build the housing we need—especially smaller, more affordable types.
Our Vision:
- Legalize missing middle housing (duplexes, fourplexes, cottage courts) citywide.
- Reduce minimum lot sizes and setbacks to make infill development viable.
- Streamline permitting to reduce costs and delays for builders.
- Allow accessory dwelling units (ADUs) by right.
- Stop exclusionary zoning that drives up costs and separates people by income.
- End parking minimum requirements everywhere in Janesville.
Why It Matters:
- Affordability: More diverse housing options help keep prices in reach.
- Aging in place: Seniors should be able to downsize and stay in their neighborhoods.
- Neighborhood vitality: More residents mean more support for local businesses and services.
